Oh, hi.

Just peaking my head out of my winter hibernation den. We got hit with some goooooorgeous weather about 2 weeks ago and bless my soul, it's been absolutely divine.

If you remember in my last blog, I mentioned that Allen and I signed up for the Lincoln Half Marathon. Well, we started training back in February and since we don't have a gym membership or a treadmill, we were forced outside. No matter the temperature. Running 6 miles when it feels like -10 degrees out is not one of my favorite things. I hope/pray we don't have to revisit those temps anytime soon. Other then that, training has been really good. And fun? Yes, it's been fun. How weird is that.

Well, I just thought I drop by the ol' blog for two reasons:

1. To let you know I'm still alive.

2. This past winter I enlisted the help of my talented friend, Megan, to make my basement not suck anymore. Guess what? IT DOESN'T SUCK ANYMORE. In fact, it's downright AWESOME. You can read her blog about it here.

Now, how about some photos? Here's how our January and February looked.

We knocked out the wall that divided our living and dining room! Hallelujah. Our house feels like a totally different place.

Traveled to Minneapolis a few weeks ago to see the Punch Brothers play.

Ahhhhhhhh. Smell that? It smells like a new year. You know, whatever that smells like. I love beginning a new year. It's the only pleasant thing about January. The rest of the month can go to hell. Seriously. We would all be a lot warmer if January went to hell.

Last week we went out to dinner with some dear friends who were back for Christmas and talked about goals for the next year and you know what? I really like goals!! Even more this year than in years past. I just got really psyched about goals. Making them, accomplishing them. Or not. GOALS. Not resolutions. GOALS.

So here are a few of mine:

1. Run a half marathon. I just signed up for the Lincoln Half on Saturday, so this is going to happen. And if I enjoy it, I plan to run another in the fall. I thought for sure I'd be full of nerves once I hit the 'Register' button. Nope. I'm actually really excited.

2. Read the entire Harry Potter series. Technically, I've listened to the first 4.5 books. Does that count as reading? I'm going to say no. But this is the year. I'm doing it.

3. Read between 20-25 books. I have yet to decide if this includes the Harry Potter series or not. I think it probably will since my next goal is.....

4. Read through the entire Bible. Our pastor is going to lead our church through this on Twitter. If you are interested, you can follow him here.

5. Finish Allen's office. He really needs to stop using the kitchen table as his workspace. And once he has an office I can start thinking more about mine.

6. Audition for the Opera Omaha Chorus. Of all of my goals, this one terrifies me the most. I've been aching to to sing classical music for the last year or two. Obviously, making the chorus would be *awesome*, but the real hurdle is working up the courage to audition.

7. Do some traveling. We already have a big trip planned for the summer. But I'm hoping we can make it out of the country at some point this year.

8. Eat more veggies. I do just fine with fruits. It's the veggies I struggle with.

I think that's about it. I'm excited to see what I get crossed off the list this time next year. What about you? Any specific goals or plans for this upcoming year? I would totally love to hear about them.

December 22 & 25

Well, this is kind of embarrassing. But I didn't take any photos on the 23rd and 24th. Things got busy and we had so much fun with our families that I just plum forgot.

I didn't even get to give Rowan a formal birthday shout out on here!

So here are my last two photos for DPP 2014. Happy New Year, friends!

Happy Birthday, Everett! I totally cheated with this photo. I took it a couple weeks ago when we were celebrating his sister's birthday. He inhaled that ice cream cone. Oh, Ev. Everett is wild, but will still snuggle with you if you let him. He loves to dance and color. At his party last weekend he was hilarious to watch as he realized that opening presents meant TOYS. He does a happy dance any time he gets excited for something. It's pretty freakin' adorable.

Happy Hanukkah, err'body!
